Well, it's true that there are some differences between the American & the British English, but not in grammer..

Some words, some whatever..

British usually like to stick to grammer if shortening a sentence will brake it. On the other hand, Americans prefer to use shortcuts in their talking, even if it may break small grammer rules..

She told one boy to look out the window.

She asked the boy :

No.
We can't see God therefore there is no God.

The teacher allowed her to do so. The girl told the same boy to look out the window .

The boy was very annoyed because he had to get up from his seat again to go look out the window
