After almost two months of downtime (did anyone notice?), HPS is back with another release, and it's a major one: Ribon no Kishi - The Musical! This is the musical that the girls from Morning Musume and Biyuuden were involved in this past summer. Tsuji Nozomi, Matsuura Aya, and Abe Natsumi were also involved over the course of the play's run, but this is the very last performance of the play, which features Ishikawa Rika in the role of Prince Franz. This performance also marks Ogawa Makoto's graduation from Morning Musume.
This is the story of a girl named Sapphire (Takahashi Ai) born with two souls: that of a boy and a girl. Although she is a girl, she has to portray herself as a boy in public, for reasons that are explained in the play.
The play itself is quite something, with all the Hello Project girls giving their all in each of their respective roles. You can tell that they really tried to get into character as much as possible. There are plenty of new songs here created just for this musical, and (...for the most part) they do a respectable job of singing these difficult songs live.
This release has been split into three parts. The first video contains act 1 of the play. The second video has act two, which is followed by a mini-concert featuring Morning Musume and Biyuuden. The third video has the curtain call, with everyone saying their goodbyes and reflecting on the play's run. Of course, the graduating Ogawa says her goodbyes, and some of the Morning Musume members see her off with some special comments.
A major thanks goes to epifanes who spearheaded this project. He even did his original translation using a fan audio recording of the final performance, (:O) so we could make this a timely release once the DVDs came out.
We sincerely hope you all enjoy this release. Keep watching hello-online, as HPS has something big planned for everyone coming late January. It's the 10th anniversary of Hello Project, after all...

And now, for a few interesting tidbits. The names in the play are from the French language, and some names have a hidden meaning, as epifanes discovered. Here's what he figured out:
The Generals:
"Nouveau" = new = nii = Niigaki
"Tortue" = turtle = kame = Kamei
The Scouts:
"Rue" = road = michi = Michishige
"Riziere" = rice field = ta = Tanaka
The Jailers (this only applies for the performances when Rika is one of the jailers):
"Pierre" = stone = ishi = Ishikawa
"Trois" = three = mi = Miyoshi
"Colline" = hill = oka = Okada
